Herald Driggs "Scott" Rice

August 20, 1920 — July 4, 2015

Scott Rice of Centerville, Utah died July 4, 2015 at the age of 94 in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born August 20, 1920 in Farmington, Utah, one of eight children of Lyman Stevens "Pat" and Florence Todd Rice. He graduated from Davis High School and attended Utah State Agricultural College for two years. He married Barbara Atkinson October 24,1942 in Bountiful, Utah. They raised four children together.

He was a true family man and provider.  He was someone that could be counted on to give unconditional love, advice and support.  Most of all, he was always a friend.  Through example, he taught his family the value of honesty, hard work, generosity and always saving for a rainy day.  He was truly a man with a big heart.

At a young age he learned to work hard. Scott spent 25 years at Chevron Oil Refinery in Salt Lake City, Utah as a crude oil operator. In retirement he continued working by running his father's farm in Farmington, Utah. When there was a job to be done, Scott was there.  He was never idle and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  A handshake from those strong, hard-working, cow-milking hands was something to be remembered.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Barbara and his four children, Mike (JoAnn) Rice, Joan (Don) Klemm, Todd (Wendy) Rice, Monica (Matt) McNeil; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Pat Capson Brown, Afton Morris and Helen Wolford.

A private graveside service will be held July 9, 2015. Burial in the Farmington City Cemetery.  Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
