Horace Albert Chapman

Horace Albert "Bud" Chapman, 82 passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at home.   

Bud was born on June 17, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Horace Albert "Bud" and Ruth Belka Chapman.

Bud was raised in Salt Lake City and Bountiful.   Bud met his sweetheart Billie Jean Wardle at Walgreens on South Temple and Main.  Together they raised their 6 children in Bountiful.  Bud and Billie later divorced and he eventually moved to St. George, Ut.   

Bud was a graduate of Bountiful High School.  He was a hard worker.  His first job was a pin-setter at the Bountiful Bowling Alley, then delivering newspapers, later he worked for Duncan Electric, Caribou Oil and Union Pacific Railroad as an Electrician.  Bud held many positions at Union Pacific. He retired as a Locomotive Engineer after over 45 years of service.   

Bud had a quick mind and witty sense of humor.  He always had a story to tell and knew how to make a person laugh.  He had a grin and chuckle that was contagious to all.   He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Model T Club of America, and Harley Davidson.  Bud enjoyed spending time restoring old cars, visiting with friends and family and listening to honky-tonk music.  

Bud had a love and lifetime passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, Cushman Scooters, classic cars and hot rods.  He spent most of his retirement tinkering around his cars, touring and attending car shows and rallies. 

He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Espinoza and Peggy Stultz, the love of his life Billie Chapman, and their five children:  Mike Chapman (Louise), Doug Chapman (Barbara), Julie Chapman, Susan Phillips (Mark), Amy Bergstrom (Bret) and 15 grandchildren and great grandchildren

Preceded in death by his son Danny, his parents and four sisters, Mary Nelson, Carla Kimball, Kathleen Vilos and Marjorie Chapman.   

A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Barn located at 2005 N. 800 W. West Bountiful, Utah 84087.
