Hugh James Lund
1933-2012

Hugh James(Jim) Lund, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, finished the race and passed peacefully, after many health issues, and returned to meet his Father in Heaven on Mother’s Day, May 13th, 2012.
Jim was born April 22nd, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Thelma Nena Job and Hugh Jean Lund and was the fourth of five children. Jim graduated from East High School in 1954, and soon after joined the military, where he reached the rank of Sergeant and was a tank commander. He was a veteran of the Korean War. On June 3rd, 1960, he married his sweetheart Norma Ann Steadman, and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple May 11, 1962, after the birth of their first daughter. Together they had three children. Jim loved to go camping with his family and went on many ward river trips. You knew he had a testimony of the gospel, he expressed it many times to his children. He served faithfully in the Bountiful 7th ward over the years, and was a ward financial clerk for many many years. He was very hard working and kept his yard immaculate. He taught his children the value of hard work and keeping everything he owned looking very nice. He was a huge fan of BYU, the Utah Jazz, and NASCAR. You could always get him excited by talking about his teams. In his later years, he loved nothing more than to see his grandchildren and give them hugs. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after a long career. He was always very sociable and enjoyed his days working at Andy’s service station in Bountiful during the evenings, where he built many relationships. Any time the family would go out of town, he would always stop by Andy’s first to chat and pick up something for the trip. He faithfully attended all of his children’s sporting events and was always very supportive, whether it was dance or hockey. He will be dearly missed, especially by his dear wife.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons(Adam and Aaron), 1 son-in-law(Todd Powell), 1 granddaughter(Berklee) and sister Jean. He is survived by his wife, Norma, daughter Sue Bean (Barry), son Bart Lund (Amy) , daughter Kathy Johansen, and sisters, Faye Andersen, Gloria Roach, Beverly Lee.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 18th at 1:00pm at the Bountiful South Stake Center, 1250 South Main, Bountiful, Utah, 84010. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 17th, 2012 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, 84010, from 6 pm to 8pm, and again May 18th from 11:45am to 12:45pm at the church prior to services. Interment at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Bountiful, Utah. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com.
