Ida Josephine Bywater Lamb

Ida Josephine Bywater Lamb, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully January 16, 2022. She was born in Salt Lake City on May 7, 1937 to Gladys Hatch and Lynn Gordon Bywater. She married Ronald Wright Lamb on December 29, 1958 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She obtained her bachelor degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah and taught at Washington, Whittier and Nibley Park Elementary schools. Later in life she and her husband served a Church Education Service (CES) mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Virginia from 2000-2002.

She was a faithful member of the church and served in numerous callings including RS president, YW president and Primary president. She touched many lives for good with her dedicated service.

Family was the most important thing in her life. As a young aunt, she adored her nieces and nephews, and they adored her. After her parents’ death, she was always the one who organized family reunions for her extended family. She planned wonderful get-togethers with delicious food and fun for everyone. She enjoyed playing games with her family and was usually the one who started the water fights. She was a wonderful cook and passed her love of food on to her progeny. Her grandchildren especially enjoyed that she always had cookies and ice cream on hand. She loved and taught her children well, and was very proud of them. She cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She called them her “pure delight.” She was also an avid reader and had a hard time putting down a good book.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron. She is survived by her 7 children, David (Kathi) Lamb, Douglas (Judy) Lamb, Julie Lamb, Curtis (Ginger) Lamb, Laura (Jeff) Bland, Rebecca Lund and Debbie (Narvit) Acevedo, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the LDS Chapel located at 3317 South 800 West, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
