Ida Smith Zundel 1920-2009

Bountiful, Utah-Beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend, passed away Saturday morning, May 30, 2009 at her home in Bountiful, Utah. Ida was born November 26, 1920 in Brigham City, Utah, to Lorenzo and Seretha Iverson Smith. She was married to Olof Eberhart Zundel on January 17, 1941 in the Logan, Utah Temple. Ida graduated from Box Elder High School, attended Utah State University, and graduated from Weber State College. She was a member of Oteyokwa Sorority. She worked at Bushnell Hospital during the war. She and her husband, Ole, owned and operated Zundel’s His and Hers clothing stores in Brigham City for many years. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1972. Ida served as a volunteer at Lakeview Hospital and The Visitors’ Center at Temple Square. She and Ole also served as temple workers in the Bountiful Temple.

Ida loved cooking for her family. She loved making candy and sharing it with friends and neighbors. Brigham City peaches always found their way to many of their neighbors’ homes in early September. Ida served in every organization of the church. She held leadership callings in the Relief Society and Young Women’s.

We love you beautiful lady, clothes and hair always perfect, never missing a chance to get a &qoute;good look at the sun&qoute;.

She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Jay and Dee Glen, and two sisters, Mary and Pearl, and her daughter-in-law, Pamela Watson Zundel.

She is survived by her husband, Olof, her three children, Craig Eberhart Zundel Jana Palm Desert, California, J. Scott Zundel Vickie Rancho Mirage, California, and Mary Catherine Lewis William Farmington, Utah. Her eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren will sorely miss their &qoute;Grandma Ida&qoute;.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to the marvelous hands that served Ida from Caregiver Support Network. Also special thanks to the Mueller Park 5th ward Priest Quorum and leaders for their weekly visit.

Funeral services and viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Mueller Park 5th Ward, 1320 East and1975 South in Bountiful, Utah. The viewing begins at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral following at 1 p.m.

She will be laid to rest in the Brigham City, Utah Cemetery under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary.
