Ila Manwill Gurr Ryan, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 13, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born on June 26, 1929 in Gooding, Idaho to Ferrin LaMar Manwill and Mary Elizabeth Flavel. She married William Grayson Gurr on October 27, 1950, and after his death, married Bruce Neal Ryan on December 22, 1962. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She loved music and singing and could play any song on the piano by ear. She was also a member of the singing group, "The Sweet Adelines" for several years. She was devoted to her family and always sacrificed to help and take care of them. Her love of bright colored clothing was only surpassed by her love of bright fingernail polish and matching sunglasses. She was an amazing cook, and especially enjoyed desserts, faithfully teaching her children to make sure to eat dessert first so they would always have room for it. She is survived by her husband, Bruce, her children, Linda Anderson, Brenda Ririe (Randy), Douglas Gurr (Terry), Sandra Gurr, Carla Dunleavy (Brian), and Laura Hallen (Eric). She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Don (Mary) Manwill, sister Lois (John) Larsen, first husband Grayson, son Ben, son-in-law Jeff, and granddaughter Nicole.
Funeral services will be held at 875 Foxboro Drive, North Salt Lake, Utah on Saturday, October 20, 2018 starting at 12 noon with a viewing 10:30 – 11:45 am prior to services. Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery following the service.
