On March 5th, our mother Inez ("Chris") Christensen Richardson died peacefully in her sleep in her own bed-just as she had always wished. Born in Brigham City, Utah, on September 9, 1918, Inez was the eighth of ten children born to Eli Laconius and Inez Dick Christensen. Mom married her Brigham City sweetheart, Lester Elwood Richardson, in 1941. They later divorced, and Dad died in 1991. Inez lived to the age of 96, having enjoyed her final years at the BeeHive Home in Kanab, Utah.
Inez' eventful life included earning a nursing degree from L.D.S. Hospital, traveling for 25 years as an Air Force wife, and raising five healthy children. She moved 18 times in 25 years, spending two years overseas in Japan. Inez enjoyed the adventure and camaraderie of military life, but she asked to return to her beloved Utah in 1966, when they retired, to be closer to her sisters and to put down roots.
Inez' radiant smile, golf prowess, green shag carpet, chicken noodle soup, and outstanding oatmeal cookies will not be forgotten by those who knew her. She brought our family close together by setting up reunions which have become huge family Christmas gatherings. Inez adored babies, bowling, private time, and mangling perfectly lovely song lyrics. We love you dearly, Mom.
Inez is the last of her siblings to say good-bye to this world; she cherished them all: Doris Tingey, John Christensen, Norma Tyson, May Parker, Verna Anderson, Ross Christensen, Dee Christensen, Beth Harmon, and Don Fishburn. Inez leaves behind her dear sister-in-law Betty Fishburn, her five children-Anne Richardson (John Goodell, Kanab, UT), John Richardson (Toni Richardson, Escondido, CA), Regina Richardson (Lafayette, CO), Katherine Falvey Dominguez (Ed Dominguez, Hico,TX), and Barbara Richardson (Kamas, UT)-seven grandchildren-Jim Schnepel, Kate Schnepel, Alexis Richardson, Kai Hudek, Erin Falvey, Lindy Falvey, and Lauren Falvey-and two new great-grandbabies, Vivien James Tollisen Adams and Oliver Patrick Falvey.
The family would like to thank the staff at the BeeHive Home in Kanab for their wonderful care of our mother for the last four years of her life. We also appreciate the warm and gentle care of Inez after her death given by Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab and Russon Brothers of Bountiful.
Inez asked for a simple graveside gathering at the Brigham City Cemetery. She will join so many of her family members there. The gathering takes place on Saturday, March 14th, at 2:30 PM. Friends and family are welcome to attend. We will sing "How Great Thou Art" at Inez' request. Then, this beautiful daughter of northern Utah will rest at the foot of the mountains she loved best.
