Irene Nelson

d. June 23, 2007

Irene Nelson passed away peacefully knowing her family loved her on Saturday June 22nd. Irene was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 4th 1919 to her parents Ethel Irene Christensen and Parley Pratt Jensen, the only daughter in a family of four children. She attended Davis High School where she met her high school sweetheart Stanley J. Nelson. They later married on June 4th 1941 in Bountiful, Utah. Irene and Stan had two children Pat and Casey, and were long time residents of Bountiful. Their home on 4th North was a stopping place for many friends and family who regularly stopped by for some great conversation and plentiful food. No one ever left mother?s home without being asked if there was something she could get for them. Any stray animal or person knew there was always a safe haven at Irene?s. Watching the Handcart Days Parade was not the same if it wasn?t on Nelson?s front lawn. She worked many years on Beck Street, first for Utah Sand and Gravel and second for Sinclair from which she retired. Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two dear brothers, Donald and Gordon. She is survived by children Pat Robert Gledhill and Casey Nelson, grandchildren, Katy, Tyler, Alli, Cassie, Christopher, Sean, and Colin, five great-grandchildren, a brother Douglas Jensen. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Centerville Beehive Home for the loving care they gave our mother during her stay there. Irene will be remembered for her pleasant disposition, infectious laugh, great meals, and hospitality. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:45. Internment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
