Irene Ranstrom Barnes

Irene was finally relieved of many years of chronic back & leg pain and other health afflictions when she peacefully passed away in her home September 19, 2018 just one day short of her 61st Wedding Anniversary. Irene was a great example of patience and perseverance. She leaves behind a loving husband Wayne and Four children: Denise (Anthon), Vic (Jeniel), Mike (Debby), Nicky (Cliff) 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and two siblings: Richard Ranstrom & Janet Jorgensen.
Irene's life journey began June 21, 1939 in Pocatello Idaho. Her family moved to Ogden, Utah where she was raised and lived in the same neighborhood as her future husband, Wayne. She graduated in 1957 from Ben Lomond High and that fall, at age 18, married Wayne in the Salt Lake Temple. Her life was then devoted to being a successful homemaker and loving mother.
Irene enjoyed several callings in her church but her favorite was in the Young Women's Program.
She had many friends around her all of the time.  She had a sweet, loving personality.
Irene was a wonderful cook and made weekly, Sunday meals for her children and grandchildren for many years until her body made it too difficult. Then her family gathered every other Sunday for dessert night. Irene loved her family very much and did all she could to keep them close.  There were yearly Easter trips to Moab and St George, and Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts every year. Sleepovers at grandmas were a great treat with chocolate chip pancakes in the mornings.
Irene was a very classy lady and always had her hair and makeup done no matter what the circumstance, she was always the best dressed person around, even if she was going to work in the garden.
Irene will be greatly missed by many. "Goodnight Irene, I'll see you in my dreams."
Our family would like to thank the nurses and CNA's at Rocky Mountain Hospice who made her last weeks of life comfortable allowing her to leave in peace.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the North Canyon 2nd Ward, 3350 South 100 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Tuesday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
