Irmgard U. Zander passed away at her home on Thursday, June 30, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. Irmgard was born May 26, 1927 in Eisenach, Germany to Otto and Minna (Buchsbaum) Scheidt. She was the youngest of seven children. She lived through the horrors of WWII in Germany. She escaped from East Germany in 1949 with her husband Siegfried Zander, who preceded her in death November 25, 1998. Irmgard immigrated to the US in 1961 and settled in New York and moved to Utah in 1974. Irmgard was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and organized their Octoberfest for many years. She enjoyed volunteering form many charities and organizations. She loved to invite family and friends over to her home for food and fellowship – she was a wonderful hostess. She loved traveling and camping as long as a department store wasnt too far away. Irmgard, you will be greatly missed! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 175 South 700 East, SLC. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary. 295 North Main and Wednesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
