Irving Carl Hansen

Announcing the passing of Irv Hansen on July 17, 2024. Irv was 90 years old. He is survived by his wife Norma Jean Holt and Five Children: Lisa Thurman, Richard Carl Hansen (wife Peggy), Kay Lyn Wilson (husband Stephen), Steven Glen Hansen (wife Anna), and Eric Edmund Hansen (wife Jennifer). Irv and Norma have 20 grandkids, 44 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Irving Carl Hansen was born February 3, 1934, in Belleville, New Jersey, to Edmund Carl Hansen and Else Margareth Svendsen. He was an outstanding amateur boxer, winning many tournaments in New Jersey and later the Intermountain AAU Senior Boxing Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, after he came West to attend Brigham Young University. Irv served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was proud of his service to the United States of America. He was a thoughtful Veteran and passed in the wonderful care of the Veteran’s Administration. The American Flag was always properly displayed at his home.

Irv and Norma were married in Springville, Utah, on April 10, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta Temple. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities including Sunday School Teacher, Bishopric Counselor, High Priest Group Leader, Stake Missionary, and Full-Time Missionary in the Las Vegas Nevada West Mission.

Irv worked most of his career in the Water and Wastewater Treatment Field, starting as a Draftsman and working many years as a Sales Engineer and Design-Build Contractor. Irv had many long-lasting friendships with customers, engineers and colleagues and was known for his professionalism, sense of humor and integrity.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, with a viewing from 8:45-9:45 a.m. at the mortuary prior to services. An evening viewing will take place Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment: Centerville City Cemetery, 650 East 400 South, Centerville, Utah.
