J. Dell Lee, 88, passed away in his home on January 26, 2018. He was born February 2, 1929 to Leila Moss and John Ellis Lee in West Bountiful, Utah.
He graduated from Davis High School. After graduation, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern California Mission. After his mission, he served his country in the Air Force. Upon discharge from the Air Force he attended Utah State College.
He married Beverly Bangerter on February 9, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have five children Carri Neff, John Lee, Lydia Huffman, Leila Lee, and Jason Lee.
Jay’s working career spanned more than 30 years with General Mills, Inc. This allowed his family to live throughout the Northwest finishing his career in Portland, Oregon. He retired from General Mills in 1989. Following his retirement Jay and Bev moved to Woods Cross, Utah. Always up for a new challenge, Jay and Bev purchased and ran a Budget Blinds franchise which was later acquired by their daughter and son in law, Carri and Lin Neff.
Jay loved serving in the Church. His church service included serving as a Bishop, High Councilor and as a temple worker with his wife in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples.
He had many loves and interests which included his wife and family, serving his neighbors, pheasant hunting, dog training, golf, home improvement, woodworking, gardening, and road trips. He loved reading and learning about American history and Church history. He was always available to share his knowledge, advice and wise counsel with his family.
Jay is survived by his wife and five children; Carri Neff (Lin), John Lee (Kathy), Lydia Huffman, Leila Lee, and Jason Lee. His legacy includes 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Woods Cross Stake Center, 2064 South 800 West, Woods Cross, Utah, 84087. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
