J. Lyle Mason passed away November 16, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones after a brave battle with Alzheimers. Lyle was born March 29,1941 to John Clifford and Maren Mitchell Mason. He grew up in Sunset, Utah and graduated from Davis High School in 1959 and was always a Dart. He was a life long member of the Stags car club of Ogden. Lyle worked for L3 Technologies for 49 years as a machinist and made some great lifetime friends. Lyle’s greatest passion was drag racing. He was the crew chief for many teams such as Utah Charger but most importantly as the crew chief for his son Scott and the Sudden Impact team. He was very proud to pass on his legacy to his grandsons Mike and Tyler.
Lyle is survived by his beloved wife Donalyn Mason, son Scott (Lisa) Mason, daughter Brenda (Paul) Wheelwright, daughter Christine Pennington, son Terry (Kinzie) Maxfield, 11 grand children and 7 great grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Corinne Larsen Mason, a son John Mason, grandsons Blair Mason and Benjamin Maxfield and great grand daughter Kylee Hover.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful where a viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and Monday morning 9:45-10:45 am prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
