Jack Grayson

April 10, 1922 — November 13, 2011

Jack was born in Jones County, Texas on April 10, 1922 to Mary Etta Martin and Wilner Randall Grayson and passed on November 13, 2011. Jack graduated from high school in Hobbs, New Mexico and enlisted in the Navy in 1942 serving as a tail gunner off the aircraft carrier Natoma Bay. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Hobbs. He married Ruby Helton and was blessed with two daughters – Pamela (Tom) Collins and Jeaninne Grayson. They later divorced. Jack married Irene Pierce in Portland, Oregon on October 23rd, 1953 and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. They were later sealed for all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS temple. They were blessed with six daughters: Gail (Dave) Evans, Gloria (Joe) Kelley, Glenda (Verlen) Love, Gwen (Andre’) Jones, Gigi (Brendan) Marshall, and Georgia (James) Wadsworth. They rejoice in 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Jack was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was an honest, hard-working and loving person who always loved to be involved in any project. He worked in construction in California; the movie business and other entrepreneurial endeavors in Delta, Utah; property management in Salt Lake City; and started his last job as a driver with Checker Auto in Bountiful at the age of 75. Jack passed peacefully at the Utah State Veteran’s Nursing Home after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers. Irene cared for Jack with love and devotion for many years at their Bountiful home until the last 3 months. The family wishes to express deep gratitude for the wonderful care he received while at the Veteran’s home. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene, all 8 daughters and husbands, grand children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, 2 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother, W.R. , and his twin sister, Mary Jewel. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. in Bountiful, Utah on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the Memorial Service, a Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at the Wight House, 100 N. Main, in Bountiful. All family and friends are invited to attend. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
