James Dewey (Duke) Bradford passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, of natural causes in Bountiful, Utah. He was 97 years of age.
Duke was born November 20, 1927, to George Leon and Britta Harvey Bradford in Blanding, Utah. He attended schools in Blanding, Utah. He was active in the tire and truck driving business. He spent the majority of his working life working for Clark Tank Lines as their tire manager.
Duke married Shirley Lou Blackner, October 25, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1966. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in October of this year. They are the parents of five children, Marilyn, Nancy, Colleen (deceased), Daniel James, and Perry Dean (deceased). Duke was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in a variety of LDS church callings.
Duke loved to fish and hunt. He loved being up in the mountains. He loved to read. He loved growing up in Blanding, Utah. He was close to his brothers Garth, Harvey, Bernal and his sister Phyliss. Upon retirement, Duke and Shirley moved to Santa Clara, Utah, where they enjoyed their remaining years in the sunshine, surrounded by family and friends.
Duke is survived by his children, Marilyn (Richard) Nelson, Nancy (Ralph) Little, Daniel James (Kathleen) Bradford. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Lou Bradford, Perry Dean Bradford (son), Colleen Bradford VanNorman (daughter), and one grandson, Alma Matthew Little.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, March 17, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 1250 S. Main, Bountiful, Utah. A graveside dedication will be at the Greenville City Cemetery, Greenville, Utah at 3:00 p.m.
