James Bruce Hansen, born July 12, 1948 in Logan, UT passed away peacefully in the care of his family on March 24th. Jim was the son of Bruce Smith Hansen and Norma Olsen Hansen. He served an honorable LDS mission in the Guatemala-El Salvador Mission. Upon his return home, Jim served in the Army National Guard as a combat engineer. He married Virginia Ruth Hollingshead "Ginger" on August 4, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. Jim and Ginger were happily married for 45 years and had 4 children, Jason, Jeffery, Melissa, and Robert. Most of Jim's career was spent in the construction industry with notable positions including superintendent and project manager for the LDS Church. He worked many projects including the bishop's storehouse, the Jordan River Temple remodel and others, however the highlight of Jim's career was as the project manager for the Provo City Center Temple. In his spare time, Jim loved to spend time in the outdoors and with his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Gardner. Jim was very talented and loved music. He played various instruments and enjoyed singing as well. In his later years, Jim loved to take his wife, Ginger camping in the Uinta Mountains. Those who knew Jim know that he served honorably and faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His service included scout leader, Sunday school teacher, ward chorister, Elder's Quorum President, Young Men's President, Counselor in 2 bishoprics, and Bishop. Jim is survived by his wife, Ginger, sons, Jason (Jennifer), Jeffery (Noelia), Robert (Angela), daughter Melissa (Mike), 13 grandchildren, sisters Karen, and Elaine, and brother Roger. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul, and sister Deanna.
Funeral services to be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 29th at the LDS church, 3317 South 800 West, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held prior to funeral from 9:45-10:45 am and on Wednesday, March 28th from 6-8 pm at the same location. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
