James Calvin Robinson

May 28, 1927 — February 20, 2015

James Calvin Robinson passed away peacefully on February 20, 2015.  He was born May 28, 1927 in Salt Lake City, UT, to James Frederick Robinson and Helen Reichmann Robinson. He married Beverly Laura Earl on June 22, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They are the parents of 5 children.

Cal was a commencement speaker at his graduation from East High school in 1944.  He met his sweetheart, Beverly, at the University of Utah.  He graduated with his degree in Pharmacology from the University of Washington in 1948.  Cal owned Professional Pharmacy from 1948 to 1959.  He inherited Robinson’s Medical Mart upon his father’s death in 1960 where he worked until he retired in 1994.  Cal loved serving people.  He was always ready with a cheery greeting and a smile.  He loved teaching the young single adult Sunday School class.  He also loved working with the Young Men, and serving in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance worker.

Cal loved to travel.  He took his family on many vacations to U.S. and LDS Church historical sites.  Fond memories were made.  He and Beverly also traveled to many other places.  The walls of their home are covered with pictures of their memories.

Cal is survived by his wife and their five children:  Jim (Janice), Sue (Ron) Webb, Janet (Paul) Walton, Nancy (Steve) Gledhill, Sharon (Ron) Dewsnup, 17 grand children, and 20 great-grand children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, David.

The family wishes to convey heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living and to Hospice for Utah for their kind and loving care.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015, 11 am, at the Foothill 6th Ward, 2215 E. Roosevelt Ave.  Friends and family may visit 9:30 – 10:30 am before services and 6 – 8 pm the evening prior at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 S 200 E in Salt Lake City.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Fund, Perpetual Education Fund, or a charity of your choice in Cal’s name.
