James Dean Moon

October 18, 1930 — March 7, 2021

James Dean Moon (Jim) passed away March 7, 2021. He was born October 18, 1930 to James Smith Moon and Emma Taylor Moon in Farmington, Utah. He married Suzanne Willis Moon in the Salt Lake Temple and together they had three children. He graduated from Davis High School and the University of Utah. He served in the US Navy from 1949-1953 and fulfilled a mission in Western Canada for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He taught at Layton High School before starting Trans Alaska Seafood in Bountiful, Utah.

He is survived by Suzanne Moon, two sons, Paul Moon (Chris), Wayne Moon (Cheryl), a daughter, Valerie Herron (Kelly), two brothers, Bob Moon (Klea), Stan Moon (Gena), 7 grandchildren, Taylor Moon (Tanya)  Preston Moon (Katrina), Landon Irvine (Charlotte), Courtney Jensen (Jessie), Emery Wood (Jonny), Jayden Moon (Samantha), Davis Moon (Lizzi), and 12 great grandchildren (one more on the way), Brooke, Colton, Emelia, Brantley, Trigger, Zoey, Lilian, Abby, Wyatt, Oakley, Daxton, Savanna, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother John Moon, and sister Marlene Bowen.

The family would like to thank the VA Nursing Home for the love and care they provided over the last four years, as well as Elevation Hospice.

There will be a graveside service at the Farmington City Cemetery on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VA in Salt Lake City. Make a difference EDONATE tab at https://www.saltlakecity.va.gov/giving/index.asp
