James Evan Moulton, known to his loved ones as Jim, passed away on September 7, 2023 in West Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 68. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jim battled with Alzheimer’s disease, yet never complained and bore the effects of the disease with grace and dignity. He would say, “It is what it is” and he looked forward to the day he would be made whole again.
Born on March 23, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Victor and Kate Moulton, Jim was the youngest of seven boys. He attended South High School and found a talent for swimming which took him to state competitions. During his senior year of high school, Jim and his best friend tried out for and made the cheer team. After high school, in 1974, Jim served a mission in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he selflessly dedicated his time and efforts to help others and bring the restored gospel to them. His commitment to his faith was evident in his actions and the way he lived his life. Jim found solace and strength in his faith and was an active member of the Latter-Day Saint community. His faith provided him with guidance and a sense of purpose throughout his life.
Jim had a vibrant personality and was known for his warm and friendly nature and his amazing dad jokes (Moulton humor). He met Amy Blundell while working as a manager for Trolley Theaters, where she worked as well. Their love story blossomed and they were married in the Salt Lake City temple on July 12, 1977. Jim cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Jim had a passion for capturing moments through photography. He had a keen eye for detail and enjoyed preserving memories for family and friends. He loved to work with wood and created beautiful picture frames, furniture, toys, and many other cherished items. In addition to photography and woodworking, he had a deep love for scouting and was actively involved in the scouting program.
Jim’s legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Amy (Blundell), his children Emily (Tyler) Leonard, Trent (Elisa) Moulton, and Amanda (Neal) Hamilton, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Mason, Bryce, Cameron, Hyrum, Gaius, Alexis, Eliza, Baylie, Elizabeth, and Haley. He was preceded in death by his father Victor Moulton, his mother Laura Katherine Moulton, and his brother Merrill Moulton.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm smile, kind heart and unwavering love for his family and friends will forever be remembered.
The family would like to thank his hospice care team as well as all others who helped to care for and love Jim during these last few months of his life.
