James (Jim) Lee Bearnson

June 8, 1935 — March 20, 2017

James (Jim) Lee Bearnson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, the morning of March 20, 2017. He was born in Mohrland, Utah on June 8th, 1935 to James Monroe and Gladys May Morgan.

Jim attended grade school in Hiawatha, Utah and junior and senior high school in Price, Utah. After graduating, he served an LDS mission to the New England States. Upon his return, he met his eternal companion, Rhea Nelson, while attending Carbon College. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 29, 1958 and soon after, while serving in the U.S Army, they started their beautiful family.

They were blessed with three daughters and three sons. They also have 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Jim worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Upon retirement, he and his sweetheart served two missions to Charlotte, North Carolina and San Bernardino, California.

Jim had a great love for sports and spent many years coaching his two sons and supporting his other children and grandchildren in their activities. Jim loved the gospel, his family, BYU, Diet Pepsi, ice cream and sweets, country music, and the Hallmark Channel.

Grandpa Jim will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years; their five children: Gwen, Kathy (Steve), Sharon (Dave), Steve (Lisa), and Mike (Jenni); grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Darrell (Peggy); sister-in-law, Merrilyn; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin; younger brother, Kent.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 25th, at the LDS Chapel 1825 South 800 East, Bountiful. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 7:00–8:30 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Saturday morning 9:30–10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful Cemetery.
