James Lamph

March 23, 1921 — December 23, 2013

Jim quietly left mortality earlier this week at his home in Bountiful. He was the youngest of three children and his parents taught them all the value of hard work. His mother was widowed when he was only 13 and he helped support the family by working for local farmers and by selling produce and flowers grown in the family’s garden. Upon his mother’s death shortly after his high school graduation, he joined the military and actively served his country for over 20 years. During this time, he married and was sealed to his eternal companion and together they became the parents of 6 children. After retirement from the military, he returned to the home he helped his father build and began a second career at the Defense Depot in Ogden. He kept busy his entire life and always had a story to tell. He was a decorated WWII and Korean War veteran. He could fix anything mechanical and loved gardening, photography, fishing, and travel.
For all who knew him, he says “so long for now”. He leaves behind his “two kings and four queens” whom he loved and had grown closer to since the passing of his wife too many years ago, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his wife, and one granddaughter.
He will be buried in the Bountiful City Cemetery following a private graveside service. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com
