James Moss

Biography

James Richard (JR) Moss crossed the finish line of life on May 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1935 in Salt Lake city, Utah, the second of four children of James Henry and Angeline Nelson Moss. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah and lived there the majority of his life. One of his fondest memories was riding his horse to Stoker School. He was one of the first Eagle Scouts in Bountiful. He graduated from Davis High, where he was Senior Class President. He served a mission to the Northern States from 1955-1957. He earned a BA in History from Utah State University and an MA from BYU. He was introduced to Donna Rae Dix, a local school teacher and it was love at first sight. They were sealed on June 12, 1959 in the St. George Temple and were blessed with 7 children. He worked as a seminary teacher, banker, and as a real estate appraiser. He was an active member of the LDS church serving in various callings. He will be especially remembered for his High Priest Group lessons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karol. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Donna and his seven children: Brad Moss, Geri (Rick) Hallows, Anne (Ron) Klemm, Angela (Atar) Wilson, Helen (Darren) Green, James (Carrie) Moss, and Laurelee (Ted) Fleischel; a sister Nancy (Gary) Bjornn, and a brother and best friend Sam (Mary) Moss. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family wants to give special thanks to Dave Meads and Ryan Mulligan with Synergy Home Care. Also special thanks to Caregivers Support Network , namely his hospice nurse Jamie Jones, and the many aids for their loving care.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 11 AM, with visitation from 10:00 – 10:45 AM at the Bountiful 17th Ward LDS Chapel, 2150 South 650 East, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same address on Wednesday, May 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
