James Moulton

James Heber Moulton of Bountiful, Utah, passed away at home on April 13, 2004 soon after being diagnosed with cancer. Born September 21, 1920, in Heber City, Utah, to Thomas Henry and Maybell McMullin Moulton, Heber had a great appreciation for his pioneer heritage and the good times enjoyed with his extended family. As a young man, he served two years in the Southern States Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and three years in the U.S. Army. Following an incident in the South Pacific in which his life was miraculously preserved, he found that all fear had left him. At the U of U, Heber met Genevieve Romney, whose association he prized for the rest of his life. They were married March 16, 1948 and had five children: Jennifer Eric Hansen, Michele Rayman Meservy, Cheryl Brent McBeth, Jolane Frank Dick, and Jim Jo, along with an Indian Placement son, Jerry Gene Charley deceased. He is survived by his wife, children, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, along with a brother, Tom Evva Jean, and sister, Carol Peterson Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Estelle Nielsen, Robert, Henry, Asael, and Boyd. Heber worked in Salt Lake City in the transportation industry until 1971 when he began teaching at Utah Technical College. Following his retirement in 1985, Heber reported that he had ?never been busier,? enjoying such activities as family history, gardening, video production, travel and church work, including directing the Val Verda II Ward 4th of July Band which he had organized in the 1950s. He served at the Family History Center and as a tour guide on Temple Square. He and Genevieve filled four missions together. Heber retained a wonderful sense of humor throughout his life. On his telephone answering machine message, he urged callers to ?Greet each day with enthusiasm and gratitude.? Heber?s last conscious days were filled with wonder at the glory, goodness and love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He repeatedly expressed appreciation for family and friends and for this wonderful life. Funeral, Saturday, April 17, 11 a.m., Val Verda II Ward, 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers, Bountiful, and Saturday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Church Humanitarian or General Missionary Funds.
