Biography

Bountiful, UT – James Douglas Oberg, 74, passed away at home Saturday, March 23, 2013 of natural causes.
Doug was born April 1, 1938 in Salt Lake City, the youngest son of the late Seth M Oberg, and Helen Murdoch Oberg. He attended East High School and the University of Utah. He married Marilyn Eileen Boydstun April 20, 1960, and together they raised four children. A man with a kind heart, his love of family and family dogs and cats will be missed. He loved the University of Utah – he was a Crimson Club member, a Utah Man through and through. Doug was employed for 36 years at Western Airlines (later Delta). He loved home, enjoyed reading, having coffee with his friends, working in his yard and caring for the family cars. His love of cars was well known.
Doug is survived by his wife Marilyn and children; Mark (Patricia), Allison, Leslie and Tim; four grandchildren; Hilary (Spiros) Makris, Darin (Rachel) Oberg, Kelon Oberg and Patrick Oberg. Two great-grand children: George and Samantha Makris, and sisters Marian (Donald) Sly and Janet Gill. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Seth M. and Larry.
Family and friends are welcome to a visitation on Wednesday March 27 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 North Main, Bountiful Utah and graveside services that will be held Thursday March 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful Utah.
