In the scriptures, we are constantly reminded about man’s purpose in God’s overall scheme of things. In fact, it cannot be more clearly stated than in God’s own words that “the worth of souls is great in the sight of the Lord”…(D&C 18:13)
An extremely strong spirit that has been virtually trapped in a frail but very resilient body for 27 years was released today. It was a lengthy process that has been a great cause of concern over much of his earthly existence. The extent of the concern, however, never impeded the love and caring that he received from his dear parents, siblings, grandparents, caregivers and numerous others who have shared their love with him over these difficult years.
August 3, 2013, he was ushered into a heavenly family circle that has been anxiously awaiting his arrival. They are the very first ones that will have ever had a real two-way conversation with him. They will hear, first hand, what he has been thinking and wanting to say. They will hear him say how much he loves his Dad and Mom. There will be no barriers in his ability to tell his close family members what choice earthly parents he has. He was privileged to be their first born.
We can only imagine the twists and turns that their heavenly conversations will take as they get a download from him. Those conversations, will have neither boundaries nor impediments. Today is a day of full disclosure. The sensitive subjects of why? what for? when?, etc., will be addressed from an eternal perspective. While those of us remaining earthbound will continue to ask those questions, those interacting with James today have the advantage. The rest of us will have to wait our turn.
For now, we shed our tears in a mix of sadness and gratitude that he has been released from this life to take his rightful place as a heavenly angel. His influence, no doubt will be felt by those of us remaining. He will play a role in sending as yet unknown nephews and nieces as they make their way into their earthly families to begin their own journeys.
James took his last breath today while watching OKLAHOMA, ironically just as Curly sang the wonderful words of optimism… “Oh, what a beautiful day!”
