Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother returned to our Heavenly Father surrounded by family on April 17, 2011 at the age of 94. Jane was born on March 25, 1917, in Salt Lake City to Lester Arthur and Rachel Ivins McKean Seare. On August 26, 1938 Jane married Charles Welch Jr. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was very supportive of her husband in his legal and political careers. After the death of Charles, Jane married George Taft Benson on December 9, 1972. She loved being with her family who were the source of her greatest happiness. Lovingly called Gram by family and friends alike, Jane was quick to give a hug and ended every conversation with I love you. Her optimism, testimony and love united and inspired her family. Jane had a congenial personality with a great sense of humor. She loved playing games with her family, making English toffee and traveling. An active member of the LDS Church, she fulfilled many callings throughout her life, especially enjoying her work in the Relief Society. Gram is survived by her four daughters, Linda (Farrell) Bennett, Jackie (Grant) Davis, Janet (Keith) Kirkham, and Susan (Reid) Bowen as well as Georges children, Mardi (Boyd) Hill, Maureen (Paul) Clayton, Margaret Benson and Brian (Diane) Benson, 41 grandchildren, 128 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, sister Nadine (Franklin) Davis and sister-in-law Joyce Seare. Jane was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother John M. Seare, sister Kathryn Seare Imlay, stepson, Taft Benson and one grandson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the North Salt Lake Stake Center, 900 Eagle Pointe Boulevard, North Salt Lake, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service and on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 No. Main, Bountiful. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
