1926-2012

Jane Hardman Higgs Smith, 85, of North Ogden, formally of Bountiful, Utah passed away on March 30, 2012 at the home of her son, Kevin, from the effects of Dementia and old age.
She was born on April 26, 1926 in Kaysville, Utah to Christopher M. Higgs and Florence Ann Hardman; growing up in the Kaysville-Layton area with her 4 sisters and 8 brothers. She married Dale E. Smith on June 24, 1942 in the LDS Logan Temple and made their home in the Bountiful area where they lived for 45 years before moving to South Weber. She went to Davis and West High Schools and graduated from Stevens-Henager Business School as a Secretary. She worked for the Federal government in various departments, ending her career in the Solicitor’s office as the Administrative Officer. She received numerous awards and high ratings for her work ethics.
After retiring, she and Dale served a full time mission to Ventura California where she served as the Mission Secretary. She served in many positions and callings in the church including Cub Scouts as Den Mother, Young Women’s and in the Salt Lake Temple. Jane loved to read, paint, make porcelain dolls, and go camping with her family.
Jane is survived by her sons, Craig of North Salt Lake and Kevin (Nadine) of North Ogden, and 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters, Dell, Junior, Bessie, Alice, Jerry, Jay, Allen, and Eugene.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale, and brothers and sisters, Joseph, Bertha, Arvel, Annie, and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Ben Lommond 10th Ward, 1050 E. 3350 N., North Ogden, Utah. Viewings will be held Monday from 6-8 pm at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 am at the church prior to services.
