Janet May Walkenhorst Jensen Breeze

October 14, 1935 — June 5, 2022

Janet May Walkenhorst Jensen Breeze passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022.  She was born October 14, 1935, the only child of Taylor Wilford Walkenhorst and Esther May Swaner Walkenhorst in Salt Lake City, UT.  Janet’s father died when she was four years old and Esther then married Gessel T. (Gus) Jensen and had five more children (Kaye, Gary, Barbara, Dean, & Peggy).  Janet was shuttled back and forth between parents and Swaner grandparents, attending five elementary and three Jr. High schools, before graduating from South High School in 1953.  When Janet was 13, she was sent to live permanently with her newly widowed grandmother, May Swaner.  They lived alone together for the next eight years.  On March 25, 1957, Janet married Floyd Robert Breeze in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they shared a desire to travel and learn new things.  Two of their six children were born on the island of Saipan.  In the 1960s, Janet was a frequent contributor to the LDS Church magazines and authored a book, THE ARTICLES OF FAITH FOR CHILDREN.  She enjoyed secretarial work, which included The Congress of Micronesia, the Washington DC Temple, and serving missions with Floyd in Ogden, Utah and Papua New Guinea.  She also served in the Bountiful Utah Temple.  Most of all, Janet cherished her role as wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her greatest joy, always, was being with Floyd and their family.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary Swaner Jensen, and infant grandson Richard Bailey Breeze.  She is survived by her remaining siblings, husband Floyd, children Claudia Jackson (Steve), Alison O’Laughlin (John), Mitchell Floyd Breeze (Geneil), William Taylor Breeze (Deann), Lorraine Hansen (David), John Floyel Breeze (Tracee), 14 grandchildren, and 12-1/2 great-grandchildren.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Farmington City Cemetery.  A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at Russon Mortuary & Crematory, 1941 North Main, Farmington, Utah.
