Janet Wellington

July 9, 1922 — March 6, 2014

Janet Judd Wellington passed away March 6, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Complications from a fall were too much for her 91 year old body. Her cheerful smile and bright blue eyes will be missed but not forgotten.
Janet was born July 9, 1922 in Panguitch, Utah to Thomas Sevy and Elizabeth Heywood Judd. She married Kenneth Albert Wellington May 8, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died August 31, 2002 and she has missed being with him every day since. Janet grew up in Delta, UT. After graduation from high school she attended college in Cedar City and Logan, UT. To be of service to her church, friends, and especially her family was her main goal in life. She served faithfully in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved Relief Society, serving as president of that organization on both the ward and stake level. She also loved her time spent serving in the Bountiful Temple. Many friends and loved ones have slept under one of her beautiful quilts and she was crocheting, another hobby she loved, on the day before her fall. She was an unwavering loving caregiver to her aging mother for ten years and then her husband for five years while he suffered from Alzheimer’s. Seven years ago she moved to the Seville in Orem, UT where she made new friends and helped with countless humanitarian projects.
She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara (Duane) Benson, Pleasant Grove, UT; Jane Ann (Kent – deceased) Messenger, Provo, UT; and Mary Kay (Brent) Whipple, Farmington, UT; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; one brother, David D. Judd, Bountiful, UT and one sister Jean Judd Andrus, Lakewood, WA. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Joyce Judd Watson and Juneal Judd Johnson, brother Richard Judd and son-in-law Kent Messenger.
Funeral services will be Saturday March 15, 2014, 2:00 pm, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Burial, Centerville City Cemetery.
