Janice Dianne Blodgett

November 22, 1934 — April 2, 2020

On April 2nd, 2020, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend, Janice D. Johnson Blodgett crossed over into the realm of spirit leaving the weight of her body and mind imprisoned by dementia behind in an empty shell of flesh resembling her life aged into her final moments, her face reflected beauty and peace.
Janice found her wings to fly free of the world and join her loved ones on the other side with God.
Janice was born Nov 22, 1934 to Melba Nelson Johnson and Viggo Johnson, she was the youngest of 7.
Her siblings were Dee, Ruth, John, Bill, Paul, and Barbara. She was loved by many of their children as an Aunt.  Janice grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She was a determined girl, that sought after the desires of her heart to achieve great heights in education, athletics, and her faith with God. She attended East High School as a young woman and went onto attend the University of Utah. She lettered in Physical Ed and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science, she excelled in sports winning athlete of the year,  she was on the Women's basketball team, soft ball team and played Tennis well enough to go pro, choosing not to so she could pursue a Family.
Janice met our Father in 1957 upon graduating from college and was married to Dell Brinkerhoff Sept 6, of 1957 and divorced after 20+ years of marriage.  They had five children, Kerry, Mike, Stewart, Debbie and Karen. She was a devoted mother who was very involved in the lives of her children, and often sacrificed on their behalf and happiness.
Janice went on to pursue a degree in Recreational Therapy as her chosen career working at South Davis Community Hospital.  She was active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, served in cub scouts, P.T.A. and Relief society.
Janice remarried on July 16, 1987 to Gary Blodgett and added Gary's kids Jeff and Deana into our family.
Janice sacrificed for others, worked diligently to bring our family together on holidays and celebrate her children and her grandchildren. She was a Mom to many and embraced all whom she met or knew with unconditional love, and touched the hearts of many wherever she served, worked or showed up enthusiastically to be apart of.  She was a woman beyond her time of accomplishments, intellect, talent and courage to stand up for what is right. She was a warrior of love and faith, that knew how to make life fun and lift the spirits of those around her. She took in the broken, afflicted and nurtured their souls to wholeness, with the ability to love others without conditions or judgements. She was a true example of Christ words and the embodiment of Gods unconditional love for all.
She leaves behind her Children, 22 Grandkids, 20 great grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a legacy of love, of courage and faith.  She will be missed, and her light will shine on through us all until we meet again.  We love you Mom, Grandma, Sister, Daughter, Friend and bright light that gave to all her best! Fly high, fast and free into the greatness of God until we meet again to continue in our family forever!
