Janice LeMay Chenoweth Rooklidge

Janice LeMay Chenoweth Rooklidge, our loving mother and grandmother, passed away on January 11, 2023 at the age of 83.

Jan was born on March 22, 1939 in Mitchell, South Dakota to parents Asa B. Chenoweth and Gladys Lehman Chenoweth. She was raised on a family farm, where she developed a great love for animals, especially horses and dogs. She enjoyed riding horses and spending time with her beloved dog Cooper.

Jan graduated from Mount Vernon High School, in Mount Vernon, South Dakota and then attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, and Pasadena College in Pasadena, California. She graduated from the International Institute of Hair Design in 1980 and worked as a cosmetologist in the Bountiful, Utah area for the next 42 years.

Jan married Richard Chandler Rooklidge in 1965 and later divorced. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in Primary, Relief Society,Young Womens, and several musical positions. She had a great love of music and shared her talents as a pianist and vocalist with many.

Jan was very dedicated to her family and worked tirelessly to provide for them as a single mother. She loved her family very much and treasured spending time with them. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she always tried to be involved in their activities.

She is survived by her three children, Chris Rooklidge (Nicole), Erik Rooklidge (Elizabeth), and Robin Smith (Todd), and grandchildren Madisyn (Isiah), Lauren, Chandler, Tyler, Bethany, Ayden, Mason, Peyton, Hannah, Hailee, Bracken and great-grandson Bodhi. Her parents, sister LaVonne Carpenter, brother Maurice Chenoweth, and daughter Meghan Rooklidge preceded her in death.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 21, from 8:30 a.m.- 9:45 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m.
