Janice Rose

Janice Rose passed away February 14^th, 2022, just eleven days shy of her 81^st birthday, in Layton Utah. She left us to be with her sweetheart on Valentine’s Day.

Janice was the youngest of five children born to Randy and Ilene Leavitt on February 25^th, 1941 in Overton Nevada. When she was two, her family moved to a farm in Meridian Idaho where she learned how to work hard. She said her father believed that the devil found work for idol hands and if he found any of his children being “bored” he would have them dig a hole and fill it back up again, just to have something to do. Janice loved school and made friends easily. Janice began piano lessons at age ten and found that she had a real talent in music. She graduated with honors from Meridian High School in 1959. She was able to find work as a secretary because she took courses in shorthand and typing in school.

Janice served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was called to the Western States Mission. While she was there, her parents sold the farm and moved into a new home in town. When she returned home, she dated and eventually married Charles Johnson; later divorced. They had one daughter, Michelle, while living in Sacramento California.

Janice moved back to Idaho with Michelle and worked in Boise as a secretary where she met Garry Rose at a dance. They dated and then were married, and had one son, Richard. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They traveled around, living in many different towns due to Garry’s work. They eventually settled down and built a life and home they loved on ten acres in Nampa Idaho. Janice drove a school bus for several years and taught piano lessons from her home. Throughout her life, Janice used her gift of music to bless other’s lives, serving as the organist, pianist, or chorister for her ward or stake of the church.

After their daughter graduated from high school, they sold their home in Nampa and moved to Farmington Utah. She made new friends and kept busy taking care of her family and serving in the church. She found joy in serving as a worker in the Bountiful Temple. Janice had an unshakable testimony of Jesus Christ. She lived an honorable and virtuous life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Janice will be honored at a viewing on Monday, February 21^st, from 6:00-8:00PM at the Farmington Russon Brother’s Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street.

There will be a graveside service in Hyrum Utah the next day, Tuesday, February 22^nd at 11:00AM.
