Janiel Hutchings Colby

Janiel Hutchings Colby, 90, rejoined loved ones on August 13, 2024. She was a woman who left an indelible mark on those who were blessed to know her. Born on January 14, 1934, in Beaver, Utah, Janiel was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend known for her kindness, grace and dedication to her family, community and church.

Jan attended LDS Business College where she met her best friend and the love of her life, Neil Colby. Jan and Neil were married December 3, 1954, in the St. George Temple. Together they raised 3 children. Jan is proud of her family and dedicated her life to serving them. She and Neil worked to create many happy memories including camping and boating adventures. They hauled their boat from Bear Lake to Lake Powell to make life fun for their family.

Jan was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who had a strong testimony of her savior, Jesus Christ.

Jan is survived by her daughter, Allyson Colby, son Spencer (Valerie) Colby, daughter Sandra (Tim) Jones, brother-in-law Jerald Colby, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Bountiful Tenth Ward at 1145 North 200 East in Bountiful, Utah. Visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and prior to services Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the 10th Ward. Interment in Bountiful City Cemetery.
