Our loving mother and grandmother, Janis Cox Siems, passed away June 1, 2009. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Walter Cox and Eliza Ann Mawby Cox on November 29, 1916. She married Ralph G. Siems, October 5, 1949. Solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August 30, 1954. He died in a tragic auto accident, April 30, 1988. Life long member of the LDS Church, serving as a Primary and MIA teacher, and councilor in the ward and stake. Sang with her husband in the ward choir. She was educated in Davis County Schools, graduating with the class of 1935 from Davis High. She was employed by the State Tax Commission for many years, and retired from the Davis School District Office in 1978. Mom loved to travel and take long rides in our beautiful canyons. She enjoyed nature, the mountains, trees, flowers, birds and animals, always giving them tender care. Mom had a kind and generous spirit, always meeting the needs of others before her own. She gave loving care to her elderly parents for many years. She had a quiet and reserved nature, but could be feisty, if called for. Mom loved flowers, especially roses and often said she found peace and contentment working in her garden. She enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays and always planned something special. She found great joy in the love and companionship of her grandchildren. She is survived by her special children, Paul D. Siems and wife Julie; her loved and cherished grandchildren, Aja, Ian, and step-grandson André; sister-in-law, Lucille Cox; and many nieces and nephews; also Joyce and Susan. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Gloria Mitchell and Sue Miller; brothers, W. Les Cox, Adrian Cox and John A. Cox; sister-in-law, Lydia Cox, and niece, Barbara Cox. Honoring Mom’s wishes, there will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary.
