Janith Bishop Clark, a devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, and passionate teacher passed away at 9:00 on the morning of June 26th. Jan passed away while in her home of 45 years after many days of being surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Jan was born to Heber and Vera Bishop on June 4th, 1938 as the youngest of ten children. Jan grew up in Hinkley Utah. She loved to share stories about her childhood home and her memories regarding her loving family. Jan graduated from Delta High school in 1956. Jan went on to obtain her Associates degree from Snow College where she was a Drill Mistress on the dance team. Jan later earned her bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. Jan has always loved BYU and in her last moments could still sing the BYU fight song.
Jan was an amazing teacher. Jan taught hundreds of 3rd and 4th grade students over 27 years. She felt passionate about teaching children and did everything she could to inspire, guide and love the children in her classroom. For years after she stopped teaching her students would approach her in public and tell her how much she had impacted their lives.
Jan Married William Clark in 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. Jan and Bill had an incredible marriage. They took care of each other and loved each other for over 54 years. Together Jan and Bill created a family that includes four children and fourteen grandchildren.
Jan loves people. She could make friends wherever she went. She could create deep, meaningful, and lasting connections with people she had met only moments before. These connections were often created while at restaurants and in lines of grocery stores. No relationships were more important to Jan than the relationships she had with her family. Jan spoke with such pride when she talked of her parents, brothers and sisters. That love continued as she became a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. The walls of her home are filled with pictures and memories she has created with these special people.
Jan has always been an incredible example of faith. Jan was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints, in the Sevier River. Jan had a strong belief in prayer and will always be remembered as telling her friends and family and she was always praying for them. Jan’s first thought when she needed help was to ask for a Priesthood blessing. She found great peace and solitude in Priesthood blessings and had great trust in the words that were spoken to her through these blessings. Jan loves her Heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ and made it a lifelong goal to strengthen her relationship with them.
Jan will be greatly missed by her husband Bill Clark and her Children Ron Clark, Tamra Watts (Richard Watts), Darin Clark (Katie Clark), Shane Clark (Karen Clark). She leaves behind 14 grandchildren.
