Jared Wayne Stromberg

May 16, 1980 — July 19, 2021

Jared Stromberg, our kind, faithful, loving, and humble husband, father, son, and brother, left this earth after a courageous year-long battle with Myeloidysplasia Syndrome, which turned to an aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in his last days.

Jared was born May 16, 1980 in Ogden, Utah to Mark and Teena Stromberg. Jared was a kind and obedient son, except when he wanted to destroy something. Jared’s life was full of love for his family. Growing up, Jared wanted to be with his brothers and sister – his best friends. The Stromberg siblings loved being together, even if it meant together in trouble.  In high school, Jared was well known for making others laugh.

Jared graduated from Bountiful High School and soon after left to serve the Lord as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville, Florida. While Jared loved his mission, he often said he would never go back because of “bugs, humidity, and brown drinking water!” Once home, Jared filled his days with his family at Lake Powell, skiing, golfing, and Bear Lake.

Jared’s first marriage brought forth a son, Jared Mark (JJ, 14).  Together, Jared and JJ, along with Jared’s father Mark, loved to ski, mountain bike, and play pool and basketball together. Jared loved to tease JJ, especially since both father and son were very competitive and he knew how to “get his goat.” Jared’s best friend was his dad, which was demonstrated by their mutual obsession for regular mountain biking and watching sports together. JJ was often in tow for these events.

Jared chased a cute brunette in his singles ward who was a little timid. Eventually Jared’s kindness and patience worked, and on September 6, 2014, Jared married Lacey Marie Myers in the Idaho Falls temple. Together, Jared and Lacey, who he called his Lamanite, built a life they loved. Even through trials and challenges, they overcame and only grew in love and partnership which they attribute to their regular temple attendance. Lacey’s love for Jared was never more evident than in the constant care and love she gave to him through his cancer battle.

Jared was met on the other side of the veil by his only two brothers, Blake and Cody, who both passed away from the same ugly cancer. While we mourn Jared’s passing, we rejoice in the knowledge that Jared is now fully embraced in the arms of his brothers, where there is likely some brotherly teasing and wrestling taking place.  Jared is also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Williams. Jared is survived by his wife, Lacey Stromberg, son JJ Stromberg, parents Mark and Teena Stromberg, sister Jacee McGuire (Billy) sister-in law Kirsten Stromberg (Cody) and his paternal grandparents Stromberg.

Lacey would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the many family, friends, and ward members who have supported Jared and Lacey through this difficult year, especially Lacey’s parents Bill and Julie Myers, in-laws Mark and Teena Stromberg, and her and Jared’s immediate and extended family. Lacey also extends her gratitude to the caregivers and doctors of Huntsman Cancer Institute, particularly Dr. Patel and Dr. Tantravahi.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 at 11:00 am at the chapel at 625 South 750 East (Country Creek Drive), Layton, UT 84041.  A viewing will be held at Russon Mortuary in Farmington on Tuesday, July 27th from 6pm-8pm. and on Wednesday morning at the church prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Kaysville City Cemetery.
