(Jay) William Jennings Watts

May 2, 1958 — November 20, 2017

Our hero, William Jennings Watts Jr. (Jay), passed away while in his home on November 20, 2017, surrounded by his family.  Jay was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina to William Jennings Sr. and Sybil Sharpe Watts on May 2nd 1958. He was sealed to Lynette Flake on August 23rd, 1984 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Jay and Lynette have been loyal companions for more than 33 years.  Into their family were born three amazing children: William Stanton Watts (Lainie Heninger), Pierson Jennings Watts (Lauren McMurray) and Alyssa Estelle Watts Barrett (Jake Barrett). Jay was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, friend and neighbor. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, looking out for the needs of others and spending time with his family and friends. Jay was a lifelong, faithful member of the LDS church and served a full-time mission in San Antonio, Texas. His physical presence will be missed but never forgotten. As Jay would say, "Always stay humble and kind." Survived by his wife, Lynette, three children, Stanton, Pierson, and Alyssa, mother Sybil, two of his three siblings, Jenny Pappas of Pennsylvania and Kate Cook of South Carolina, and one granddaughter Savannah Grace Watts. Preceded in death by his father William Jennings Watts Sr. and sister Conni Lynn Delatorre of Florida. 

A visitation will be held Friday, November 24th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hansen Meadows Ward, 2500 South Bluff Road, Syracuse, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Hansen Meadows Ward Chapel. Interment will be at the Syracuse City Cemetery, 1912 West 1900 South, Syracuse, Utah 84075.
