Jean Christensen Muir Tyler

March 4, 1927 – October 9, 2016

Jean Christensen Muir Tyler, daughter of Jennie Maria Johnson and Soren Christian Christensen was born on March 4, 1927 at their home in Redmond, Utah.  She returned home to our Heavenly Father on October 9, 2016 at the age of 89.  She was the youngest of 10 children.  She was married to Howard E. Muir for 27 years, and Fred Tone Tyler for 25 years. Preceded in death by siblings and both dear husbands.  She is survived by three children Daryl (John) Francom, Kathy (Craig) Smith, and Michael (Julie) Muir; two stepdaughters Paula (Michael Jordan) Griffiths, and Cielle Tyler; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

As valedictorian at Sevier High School, class of 1945, she declined a scholarship for college and moved to Ogden to work full time at DDO and part time as an usher at the Egyptian theater.  She retired from her HAFB career of 36 years, and that’s when her life really began.

She had a great love of family which was the most important thing in her life.  She was a caring, supportive and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She blessed those around her through her example of Christ-like love and service as well as her strength in adversity.

She loved to travel, play games and get together with her family often.   She was an avid bridge player who competed in Duplicate Bridge for many years.   She played party bridge two to three times a week in her bridge clubs with her dear friends up to the last week of her life.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.   She made friends with everyone she met.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street.  Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Mortuary.   Interment will follow at the Clinton City Cemetery, 813 North 750 West, Clinton, Utah.
