Jean May Fuguel Peterson passed away peacefully on the morning of August 2nd, 2022. Jean was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. Family was everything to her!
She was known for being kind, feisty, fun to be around, well-dressed, and resilient. She has joined her husband George T. Peterson Jr., whom she deeply loved, on the other side of the veil and can now rest from her sorrows, troubles, and cares.
Jean was born in Ormesby, Yorkshire, England, on May 1, 1942. Her family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in 1955 left England to settle in Bountiful, Utah. Jean became an American citizen, and graduated from Bountiful High School. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, George, while working at the Genealogical Society in Salt Lake City. Their romance started with a wink, and Jean and George were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1961.
George and Jean’s greatest blessing was their five children. Jean taught them to be respectful, polite, clean, and to value relationships with others. Jean loved to read and set a great example about the importance of continuing to learn and grow.
She was a master of helping each of her children’s friends to feel at home when they entered her house – she welcomed each one with a cookie and warm Christlike love.
She enjoyed vacationing and spending time together with George and her children. Jean was quick-witted, and loved to joke and tease. She always took time to listen to others with pure empathy.
Jean leaves behind Tadd (Beth), Deborah (Dan), Lance (Kris), Becky (Mike), and Brandie (Dirk). 19 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Jean’s children and loved ones are grateful to the staff and friends at the University of Utah Hospital, North Canyon Care Center, and Creekside Senior Living for their dedicated care, attention, friendship, and kindness during her final months.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. the morning of Friday, August 5, 2022, where Jean will be laid to rest.
