Jean Stringham Green was born April 26, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away on February 16, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah. She was the daughter of D. Gordon and Beatrice Armstrong Stringham. She married Theo James Green on November 9, 1944 in Merced, California during World War II. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 18, 1945. She was the mother of two sons and two daughters: Larry S. Green (Shelley), Randy Jay Green (Penny), Bonnie Lee Oscarson (Paul), and Jan Stubbs (Mark). She loved her ten grandsons and nine granddaughters and her home was always open to all. There are at this time 67 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Jean was active all her life in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the LDS Church wherever they lived in the United States including teaching early morning seminary, and having leadership roles in Relief Society and Young Women. She was called to serve on the YW General Board in 1972 and then on the correlation committee a few years later where she served for nearly eleven years. She served an 18 month mission to the Philippines with her husband in the 1990's and then a church financial auditing mission with her husband for another 6 years. She loved to sew and quilt and has left a legacy of her talent with her family.
Funeral services for family and close friends will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Bountiful East Stake Center, 650 East 2150 South. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Temple Patron fund of the LDS Church.
