Jean Bell Hansen Weight
1924 – 2012
Jean Bell Hansen Weight, 88, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2012 at the Country Care Assisted Living Center in Farmington, Utah.
Jean was born on November 15, 1924 to Arthur Clarence and Sofia Hansen in Clear Creek, Utah. She attended school in Clear Creek and Provo. She married DeVere Robert Weight on April 5, 1944 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They were happily married for 48 years before his passing in 1991. She worked closely alongside DeVere in farming and operating the Tom Boy Café where she was known for her fabulous pies. Her favorite place to be was fishing on Scofield Reservoir with her family. She loved having her hair and nails done weekly, and she was never dressed until she had her jewelry on.
Jean was a member of the LDS Church and held numerous church positions in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She loved reading the Book of Mormon. Genealogy was her passion as she was instrumental in providing for the saving ordinances of hundreds of her ancestors.
Jean recognized the importance of hard work, family, and compassion towards others. If there was a shirt to be ironed, a table to be set, or a floor to be vacuumed, she was the first one to do it. She loved root beer and candy, and loved to share it with people who visited her.
Jean was the wonderful mother of six children: Kathleen (Phil) Young, Orem, Janean (Leonal) Boulter, Sandy, Nadine (Gary) Runchel, Montana, David (Janet) Weight, Syracuse, Sharlene Weight, Farmington, Robert Dee (Heather), Weight, Oklahoma.
She had 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother, Gale Hansen, and her sister, Bonnie Gae Robison. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband DeVere, daughter Janean, grandson Ryan, great granddaughter, Amber, her sisters: Francis James, Arlyn Laws, Barbara Losser, Geraldine Smith. Her brothers, Arthur, Glen, Jimmy, Donnie Hansen, and her very special golden retriever, Charlie.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Michael Beus, the staff at Country Care Assisted Living, and the Symbii Hospice team.
