Jean Agnes Weinberger, our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed away on April 9th 2024. Jean left this life and moved on to a long awaited reunion with the love of her life, Robert Weinberger, who preceded her in death by 26 years.
Jean was born on January 9th, 1936 in New York as an only child. Robert and Jean met early in their lives as they lived across the street from each other. They slowly fell in love and formed a bond that lasted throughout their lives, even past Robert’s death.
Jean created a large family, which includes her children: Mark, Kerri, David, Kathi, Matthew, and Benson, spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean’s family has spread its wings and thrived throughout the United States and even as far as Germany and Guam, in a testament to the rugged determination, fierce work-ethic and a love for our fellow man, that we all learned from Jean and Robert.
Jean was a homemaker and mom throughout her life; however, she had another passion, which was serving those less fortunate than herself. Late in life she returned to school and obtained a Masters of Social Work, which she used serving the aging population and eventually innumerable patients at Lakeview Hospital. Following Jean around Bountiful was like being in the middle of a Cheers episode, where everybody knows your name! It was impossible to be in the medical community of Bountiful without meeting people who worked with, knew, and loved Jean. Even on Jean’s deathbed she was surrounded by medical professionals who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you would think of the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. Jean loved donating to various causes, however this was one of her favorites. One of Jean’s wishes was to make a road trip to Kanab to see the sanctuary. Unfortunately, Jean was not able to make that wish happen.
Jean’s surviving family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Hospital and Monument Health Care including hospice workers, who really do amazing and difficult work. Also, we would like to thank the multitude of people who helped Jean throughout her life. She loved her neighbors and loved watching their kids grow and develop. Thank you for sharing your lives with her and thank you for the hours and years of service you provided to Jean!
