Jeanne Rawlins

October 18, 1965 — July 27, 2024

Jeanne Stratton Rawlins passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2024 due to complications from surgery. 3 surgeries in 3 weeks were just too much for her big heart to handle.

Jeanne was born October 18, 1965 to Arwin and Jenneil Stratton in Cedar City, Utah. She grew up with her three brothers in town and then on the farm north of town. They learned to work hard and survived all sorts of adventures with wagons and three wheelers.Jeanne graduated from Cedar City High School and then from Southern Utah State College with a degree in Elementary Education. Then this small-town girl was dropped into an inner-city school in Salt Lake City. She taught for several years at Guadalupe, Jackson and North Star elementaries. She made her home in Salt Lake in the same area where she taught. It seems like every time we went to the park or the grocery store someone would run up to say hi to Miss Stratton.

In the fall of 1998 mutual friends introduced her to Mike Rawlins. One date led to another, and they were married in the Bountiful temple on July 10, 1999. After a couple of years in Salt Lake, they moved to Bountiful. They were eventually blessed with two sons who were the light of her life. She taught them how to cook, do laundry, shoot a basketball and do what was right. She loved them with all her heart and made sure they knew it. After the boys got in school Jeanne also returned to the classroom. Jobs fell into her lap that allowed her to work at Meadowbrook and Foxboro elementaries and Bountiful Junior High as a specialist, secretary or teacher. She loved the kids-even the junior high ones. "They make me laugh."

Jeanne's faith was very important to her. Her testimony of the gospel was the foundation of her life. She served in numerous church callings in Primary, Relief Society and Young Women-including 10 straight years of girl's camp.

Jeanne loved doing things for people. She never cooked a small amount of anything, so there was always extra to take to a neighbor. Her question for any activity or event was "How can I make this fun?" She was always thinking of others and what she could do for them. Jeanne had a special gift of making people feel special and loved.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Mark and Lyndon.

She is survived by her husband Mike, sons James and Jason, brother Brent (Carol) and sister-in-law Amye. She is also survived by numerous friends from Morton Meadows, Bountiful and beyond who all have a hole in their hearts now.

Give someone a hug and tell them you love them. That's what Jeanne would do.
