Jeffrey Thomas Terry unexpectedly left this earth on July 2nd, 2024. He was born on October 20th, 1986, the beloved son of James & Judy Terry. He is the youngest of six siblings (Jamie, Janee, Jason, Jeremy, Jodie) having grown up together in Bountiful, Utah. He played football at Woods Cross High School, was an Eagle Scout, and loved the outdoors, including boating, four wheeling and especially escaping to the mountains any chance he could get with his Great Danes Coach and Roxy.
Jeff fell in love with a petite, beautiful firecracker named Kate and they were married in the Bountiful Temple on January 21st, 2012, in the midst of a snow squall. He was forever changed when he became a father to feisty Addison Jane (8), whom he lovingly called AJ and Beau, our miracle boy (3). They are his reason for such a valiant fight in life. There are no words to adequately convey his love for them and theirs for him; they will forever adore him.
Jeff worked in heavy machinery and automotive; he knew the meaning of hard work, greasy, dirty and calloused hands and the process of identifying a need and fixing it. He truly appreciated all the work friends he made over the years.
He served various callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, oftentimes supporting the young men and teaching the youth alongside Kate.
His wife Kate is his “person” – his rock, his confidant, and the love of his life.
If you knew him, you know he was a skilled handyman who could fix or repair anything, a true blue-collar guy who could do anything with power tools, but don’t ask him to write an essay (spelling was not his forte). Jeff is the type of person who will give you the shirt off his back – massively generous & dedicated to serving others. He is a helper to his core – always helping at gatherings with dinner, helping with cleaning, helping anywhere he could be of service, often quietly – doing it without wanting to be noticed. Jeff was the first one to show up when someone needed help – the first responder for family, friends, and strangers alike.
He was incredibly private, but fiercely loyal. He was a friend to all. His loyalty and friendship was unbreakable. In the words of his daughter Addie, the best words to describe Jeff are: helpful, strong, kind, and loving.
In recent years, Jeff became an active member of his recovery community, finding a sense of purpose and connection throughout his journey. He was dearly loved at South Davis Recovery Club in Bountiful, Utah. His humility, compassion, and empathy for others touched many lives, but it was never about that for Jeff – he felt that in giving, his cup would fill. He selflessly provided service because it is what he loves to do.
Despite his many strengths, Jeff battled long and hard with mental health challenges and depression that ultimately led to his untimely passing. We will miss his earthly presence but are faithful that his heavenly presence will surround us as we move forward in grief. If we know Jeff, we know that he will be doing everything possible to serve us from the other side. We feel deep peace knowing he is whole and free from suffering and in the arms of our Savior.
Our hearts are broken, but our hearts have also been expanding with the outpouring of love & support from family, friends, community, and the Ken Garff family. We feel lifted up, which is exactly what Jeff would have wanted.
Jeff is survived by his loving parents, James and Judy Terry. His five siblings, Jamie (Dave) Janee (Dallas), Jason (Kim), Jeremy (Melissa), Jodie (Mike). A gaggle of nieces and nephews, and his beautiful wife, Kate and their two children Addison Jane and Beau Jeffrey.
