Jeneveve Eyring Layton

October 12, 1917 — March 8, 2016

At 98 years of age Jeneveve Eyring Layton passed away March 8, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah.  Jeneveve was born October 12, 1917 in Pima Arizona, to Edward Christian Eyring and Emma Romney Eyring.  Jeneveve was a product of the times and of her family.  She learned to work hard, appreciate beauty, enjoy simple pleasures, express gratitude and treasure family relationships.  Education and achievement were highly valued by her family.  Jeneveve graduated from Gila Junior College (Thatcher, AZ) and Brigham Young University then taught school for three years.  She married Grant Frank Layton on June 12, 1941 in the Mesa Arizona temple.  They had nine children who were loved and nurtured in a home where the highest virtues were taught and lived.  By nature, in conversation and by what she did, Jeneveve made every person feel they were the most important person to her.  She was the embodiment of simple elegance and grace.
She and Grant together served a full-time mission for the LDS Church to Des Moines Mission Iowa, 1980-81.  Grant passed away in 2009.  Jeneveve then lived with her children until the final year of her life when she continued to love others–in a care facility.  She influenced for good all those around her.  Throughout her life Jeneveve was a disciple of Christ; she unfailingly sought to follow the Savior by serving and loving others.  Jeneveve is survived by eight children, Rebecca (Bob) Thompson, Linda (Fred) Rose, Ron (Tammy) Layton, Ken (Kathleen) Layton, Ruth (Curtis) Huntzinger, Steve (Kristine) Layton, Catherine (Jeff) Wagner and Chris (Beverly) Layton.  Her youngest son, Mark, died at 2 years of age.  These children were followed by 35 grandchildren, 92 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Centerville Utah North Stake Center, 1461 North Main Street, Centerville, Utah.  Friends and family may visit Friday, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Bountiful, UT, or Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Church.  Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery, next to her husband. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
