Jerred Arthur Pierpont of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, March 9th, 2022, at the age of 83. After several months of declining health, Jerred died peacefully at Lakeview Hospital, Bountiful, Utah. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, which provides educational opportunities to members living in areas with widespread poverty.
Jerred was born in Utica, Ohio on May 31, 1938, to Arthur and Bernice Pierpont. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Alaska and Germany during his four years of service.
After his service in the military, Jerred moved to Corning, New York, where he worked for Corning Glass as a master machinist. He was a member and Master of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star of both Corning and Savona. Jerred also served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the last 28 years of his life. He served as a Branch President in Bath, N.Y., he managed the Bishop Storehouse in Canandaigua that served the underprivileged, he worked as a temple worker in the Toronto, Canada Temple, and he also worked in the Family History Library and archived books in Salt Lake City.
Jerred is survived by his wife, Carol Pierpont; children, David (Laura) and Joey; stepchildren, Lois (Laura) Dugo, Renee (Bob) Whitcomb, Julie (Rick) Rooks, Donald (Leah) Hunt, and Kelie (Eric) Rumberger; fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Jerred is also survived by his sisters, Rosalie (Ron) Slater and Janet (Dave) Harvey and preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Elsie) Pierpont.
A memorial service is planned for Jerred on Friday, March 18th, 2022, at 11 a.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah. The service will be held in the social room of the Eagle Gate Apartments. All are invited to attend.
