Jerry A. Christensen

July 16, 1937 — October 7, 2016

Retired Command Master Chief Jerry A. Christensen, 79, peacefully passed away following complications from a stroke on Fri 10/7/16 at 2:25 in the morning with his son by his side.

Jerry was a native of Utah. He is survived by his loving son Steven Christensen. He also leaves behind his brother Paul (Corrine) Christensen his Sister Alice Lynn (Paul) Beck, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Emiko.

Jerry proudly served the United States Navy for over 32 years. His early sea tours included USS Terrell County (LST 1157),USS Washtenaw County (LST 1166) and USS Cleveland (LPD 7). He did 9 tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Navy Presidential Unit Citation and many others.

He served as Command Master Chief of NAS Fallon, NV and NAS New Orleans, LA

He was a highly decorated and respected sailor, a great Chief who loved his Navy and country and was loved by so many. While the Navy may have been his first love, his greatest love was his family. He was immensely proud of his son Steven. Emiko, whom he met in Japan in 1962 and married in 1964 was the absolute love of his life.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct 11, between 6pm-8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary 1941 N Main, Farmington. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Oct 12, at 1pm at Farmington South Stake Center. 695 S 200 E in Farmington with a visitation from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm prior to services. Interment – Farmington City Cemetery.
