Jerry Craig Means beloved husband, father and friend was born on October 1, 1949 in Salt Lake City Utah to William W. Means and Grace Williams. Jerry returned to his Heavenly Father on July 20, 2015 after a valiant 5 year effort to overcome Pancreatic Cancer.
He married his sweetheart, Joan Gwynn on Sept. 12, 1970 in the Los Angeles Temple. Together they had 2 children, daughter Kelly Means and son Ethan Means. Jerry joined and served in the United States Navy from 1968-1972 and served 3 tours in Vietnam. Jerry was academically gifted all throughout his life. He attended BYU and later went on to Weber State where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in professional accounting. Jerry was an active member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest. Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, photography, reading historical books and listening to music of all kinds. Jerry had a love for traveling the world with his wife Joan to far off places and he made it a priority in the final years of his life to share that time together. Jerry was soft spoken, compassionate and deeply devoted to his wife and children. He was like a second father to his nieces and nephews and opened his home on many occasions to care for his family members. Jerry was very well loved by everyone who knew him and he will be deeply missed by all. Jerry is survived by, his wife Joan, daughter Kelly, son Ethan, sister Carol Alsop, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Our family extends our deepest thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff at Mckay Dee Hospital who cared for him in his last days.
A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary- 1941 N. Main St. Farmington on Friday, July 24 from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 25 at the LDS Chapel- 500 S. Main St, Kaysville at 11am, with a viewing from 9:45-10:45am. Interment- Kaysville City Cemetery.
