Jerry L. King

January 18, 1941 — April 19, 2017

“May The Work I Have Done Speak For Me”

Jerry L. King, an honorable man who devoted his life to his Family, Faith and Charity for others passed away on April 19th while vacationing. He is survived by his wife Olivia, children Jeremy (Amy), Jonathan, Kami (Brian), Maria (Steven), Mary (Jeff), and his precious grandchildren. 

Born to Louis and Venice King, on ‘King Street’ in Layton.  His siblings,  Bill, Karla, and Pam enjoyed their childhood together.  He attended schools in Davis County and was excited that he, his wife and his children were all Davis High graduates.

He earned his credentials in Business Management and Engineering from Weber State College, San Francisco State and IBM. He retired from Beneficial Life as a Director of Systems in 2000.  He served in the US Army as a psychological examiner.

He was married to his sweetheart in the SLC Temple by Spencer W. Kimball. From their union three amazing children filled their lives with even more love. They later welcomed in two special daughters, Maria and Mary.  He had enough compassion and love that individuals and families always felt welcomed into their home.

He was privileged to serve in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a Stake missionary, YM Pres., Teacher, Bishop and Stake President, caring and nurturing those he served.  “Here am I, Send Me” was a favorite scripture. As a couple they served as Area Public Affairs Missionaries in the Pacific Islands Area and lived in New Zealand.  Many Church News articles featured their work. 

Traveling the world allowed him to enjoy new cultures, make new friends and see the wonders of man and creation. 

Community service played a big part in his life. Involvement with county and city projects, PTA, Scouting and eight years in the leadership of NAMI Davis County. He was honored as the Grand Marshal of Farmington Festival Days and NAMI State Volunteer of the Year.  

Funeral services will be at 11 am, Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Oakridge Stake Center, 1988 S. 350 E. Kaysville, Utah. A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, April 30th, 6-8 p.m. at the church and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services.  Interment: Farmington City Cemetery.
