Biography

Kaysville–Jerry E Walters, 71, our much loved husband, father and grandfather passed away November 16, 2014. Jerry was born April 20, 1943 to Francis LeRoy Walters and Mary Effie Eliason in Cedar City, Utah. His family moved to Kaysville in 1951. He graduated from Davis High in 1961. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Weber State College in 1969. While in college, Jerry began his sales career with ZCMI. In 1970, he started a rewarding career with IBM Corp in Peoria, Illinois. As a result of his career, his family lived in New Mexico, Montana, Idaho and retiring in Arizona. In 2003, Jerry & Carole returned to Utah after being away for 33 years.
He married his high school sweetheart, Carole Green, and they were sealed in the Logan temple. They have been married for 54 years. Jerry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as Bishop, High Councilman, Seventy and Seventy President, and numerous other callings. His favorite being Scout Leader to his son. He loved and influenced many as a faithful home teacher.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children and father and brothers.
His favorite pastime was WORK! He most recently worked with his son at their successful industry defining technology company. His influence on accountability and results has made a great impact and is core to the company’s future.
Jerry cherished his wife, children and grandchildren and was always there to help them. He was a handyman of many skills. Each grandchild thought he/she was “Poppy’s Favorite”. In reality, they all were. He was always available for priesthood blessings. In the end, his body was weak, but his spirit remained strong. He bore his testimony of his love for his family, his Savior and the Gospel. He was grateful for each member of His Eternal Family and challenged his children and grandchildren to live righteously and remain faithful.
He is survived by his wife and children. Natalie (Jorgen) Capener of Colorado; Brad (Julie) Walters of Kaysville; Allyson (Vance) Andersen of Arizona. He is greatly loved and admired by his 13 grandchildren: Quin, Kyrsten(Tennessee Nashville Mission), Dane(Mexico Queretaro Mission) & Annika Capener; Maddy, Katie, Caleb, Gavin & Sarah Walters; Alexis(Mexico Cancun Mission) Soren, Christian & Landon Andersen. His father-in-law, Jay Green. Brothers: Frank (Anne) Walters, Kim (Lorie) Walters and sister-in-law Mary Ann Walters, and many other close family members. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack L. Walters and mother-in-law, Jane F. Green.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Kaysville 17th ward, 875 East 200 North. Friends and family may visit Friday between 6 and 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N Main, Farmington or Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Kaysville City Cemetery. The family expresses special appreciation to Huntsman Cancer Center for the outstanding care Jerry received.
